Every Child Matters
It is essential to us that every child is valued and they are given the opportunities to succeed in their time at The Orchards. We work really hard to build trusting relationships with the children to ensure their engagement and enjoyment in every aspect of school life. We expect the children to make positive choices and contribute to the happy ethos in school.
The school has clear and explicit procedures to ensure the safety and welfare of pupils. There are well established and understood policies and practices for dealing with unacceptable behaviour, bullying, health & safety and discrimination. The procedures are regularly reviewed and updated as appropriate. There are clearly defined roles within the school to deal with all issues immediately. No issue is deemed too small and the school operates on the principle of dealing with little things straight away so that no big issues emerge unnecessarily.
The Leadership team has clearly defined roles for Child Protection and all staff are kept updated including new inductees. Effective recruitment strategies ensure that all adults working with pupils undertake the appropriate checks and the school has trained Safer Recruiters on each appointment panel including non-teaching staff. Links with external agencies are exemplary with many examples of challenging and sensitive cases achieving a positive outcome for the children at the school.
